On Saturday, May 5th bring your family and friends out for a community fair and bike ride event in celebration of Women in our lives. Capital Bikeshare and the Department of Parks and Recreation are teaming up to host the 2 Wheels fro Women bike ride along the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail from Anacostia Park to Kenilworth Park and back.
The ride will begin and end at Barry Farms Recreation Center where a community fair will also take place featuring various community organizations and groups giving away free goodies. Plus, snacks and beverages will be provided to all riders and anyone else who registers for the event.
The route for the bike ride will be approximately 9.5 miles long from start to finish and is relatively easy-going for most ages. The ride is not just for women; everyone is welcome to participate! And if you don't have a bike, no worries. Select the RSVP option that reads "need a bike" and Capital Bikeshare will provide a bike for you to use at the event (*you must be 16 years of age or older).
Last but not least, we kindly asking for donations of feminine hygiene products that we will be donating to a local women's shelter.
